Lace dye

A good companion for the Ivory Soap Ad (click 'Previous' above). While that ad is concerned with cleaning lace, this item allows the user to dye lace to give it an older look. The box is full of light-brownish powder, smelling strongly of talc. The directions on the bottom say you can use this dry or mixed in water. An actual example of a died piece of cutwork is attached halfway around the side of the box. The seller estimated it dates from 1930-1940, maybe later, but I have no way of telling exactly how old it is.

Books talk about dying lace with tea to mellow the color, and this product seems to pick up on that idea.
